This Privacy Policy describes how yoDEV (“Platform,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by yoDEV, collects, uses, stores, and shares your personal information when you use our services:
- yoDEV Community (forum and community)
- yoDEV Workplace (collaborative document workspace)
- yoDEV worX (freelance administration)
- yoDEV Homepage (authentication and account management)
By using any yoDEV service, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you register, we collect:
- Full name
- Email address
- Username
- Profile photo (optional)
- Country and city (optional)
Your account is created through our Community platform (Discourse) and shared across all yoDEV services via our authentication system (OIDC).
2.2 Profile Information
Depending on your role, you may provide:
Developers:
- Professional headline and bio (multiple languages)
- Skills, specializations, and AI tool expertise
- Portfolio projects and certifications
- Hourly reference rate and project budget range
- Work preferences (availability, arrangement, duration)
- Contact information (phone, calendar URL, social links)
- Billing information (legal name, tax ID, billing address)
Businesses:
- Entity name and type
- Company description and website
- Logo and banner images
- Contact information
- Billing information (legal name, tax ID, billing address)
2.3 Usage Data
We automatically collect:
- IP addresses and server logs (retained up to 90 days)
- Browser type, device information, and operating system
- Pages visited, features used, and interaction patterns
- Timestamps of activity
2.4 Communication Data
- Messages sent through the Platform’s messaging system
- Translated message content (when auto-translation is used)
- Support requests submitted through the support form
- Email communications related to your account
2.5 Transaction Data
- Project details, contract terms, and milestone information
- Invoice records and payment history
- Application proposals and supporting documents
2.6 Uploaded Files
- Profile photos, banner images, and portfolio thumbnails
- Project documents (PDF, DOCX, Markdown)

3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide services — Operate and maintain all Platform features
- Authentication — Verify your identity across all yoDEV services
- Communication — Send notifications about account activity, messages, contract updates, and application status
- Translation — Translate messages between users who use different languages
- Billing — Process subscription payments and generate invoices
- Matching — Help businesses find developers and vice versa through search and filtering
- Improvement — Analyze usage patterns to improve the Platform
- Security — Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
- Support — Respond to your inquiries and resolve issues
- Legal compliance — Meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms
4. How We Share Your Information
4.1 Public Profile Information
Your profile information (name, headline, skills, rates, availability, portfolio) is publicly visible on the Platform to other registered users. You control what information you include in your profile.
4.2 Other Platform Users
- Messaging content is shared with your conversation partners
- Proposals are shared with the business party
- Contract terms are shared between contracting parties
- Reviews are publicly visible
4.3 Third-Party Service Providers
We share data with third-party services that help us operate the Platform:

5. Data Storage and Security
5.1 Data Residency
- Application data is hosted on Railway (United States)
- File storage uses Cloudflare R2 (distributed globally)
- Community data is hosted on Discourse (cloud infrastructure)
- Workspace data is hosted on Railway (United States)
5.2 Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encrypted sessions (AES-256-GCM)
- HTTPS/TLS for all data transmission
- Encrypted storage for sensitive credentials
- OIDC-based authentication with PKCE
- HttpOnly, Secure session cookies
- Regular security reviews
5.3 Sensitive Data
Financial credentials (such as payment account details) are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption and are never logged or exposed in API responses.
6. Cookies and Tracking
6.1 Essential Cookies
We use essential cookies for:
- Session management —

- Locale preferences — Language selection
6.2 No Advertising Cookies
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We do not serve ads on the Platform.
6.3 Third-Party Cookies
Third-party services integrated into the Platform (Discourse) may set their own cookies subject to their privacy policies.

8. Your Rights
You have the right to:

- Objection — Object to processing of your data for specific purposes

8.1 Account Deletion
When you request account deletion:
- Your profile is removed from public view immediately
- Your personal data is deleted within 30 days
- Transaction records may be retained for legal/tax compliance (anonymized where possible)
- Content posted to the Community forum may remain but will be anonymized
- Workspace documents shared with others may remain accessible to collaborators
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States (where our infrastructure is hosted). By using the Platform, you consent to such transfers. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers.
10. Children’s Privacy
yoDEV is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly.
11. Regional Privacy Considerations
11.1 Brazil (LGPD)
If you are a resident of Brazil, you have additional rights under the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), including the right to confirmation of data processing, access, correction, anonymization, portability, and deletion. Our legal basis for processing is consent (provided at registration) and legitimate interest (for Platform operation).
11.2 European Economic Area (GDPR)
If you are located in the EEA, we process your data based on: (a) your consent, (b) contractual necessity, (c) legal obligations, and (d) legitimate interests. You have additional rights including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
11.3 Chile (Law 19.628 and Law 21.096)
If you are a resident of Chile, you have rights under Chilean data protection laws (Law 19.628 on the Protection of Private Life and Law 21.096 on the constitutional protection of personal data), including the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data held by us.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Platform. The “Last Updated” date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
