AI search startup Exa released Exa Instant, a new search tier that delivers results in under 200ms — faster than Google and up to 15x faster than competing search APIs. The speed matters less for humans and more for AI agents, where search is just one step in a larger workflow. If a deep research agent makes 50 search calls and each one is 200ms faster, that’s 10 seconds saved. Most search APIs are slower because they wrap Google’s results under the hood, which alone takes 700ms+. Watch the launch video here.
