AI disruption is creating a new wave of in-demand job roles

Everyone’s worried about AI taking jobs — but some companies can’t hire fast enough for AI roles.

AI Engineers are in high demand. AI Engineer was LinkedIn’s fastest-growing role in 2025. In particular, companies need forward-deployed engineers (FDE), or coders who understand customers’ needs and can tailor AI solutions to meet them. Monthly job listings for FDEs soared more than 800% between January and September of this year.

But it’s not just engineers. There might be one AI skill that’s in even more demand than engineering. Design. At least, that’s according to Autodesk’s analysis of 3 million job listings. Other rapidly-growing non-technical roles include AI Content Creator, AI Coach, AI Product Manager, AI Ethics Officer, and AI Strategist. This is a sign that companies need employees who can leverage, implement, and govern AI — not just build it.

Change creates opportunity. The job market is changing quickly and bringing opportunities with it. LinkedIn’s Chief Economist, Karin Kimbrough, says “Those who are proactive and forward-thinking will be better positioned to meet the demands of the modern economy and labor market, and stay competitive while unlocking the vast potential that change brings.”
